At the end of last year Tohatsu introduced their 9.9hp, 15hp, and 20hp EFI four stroke portable outboards for the 2018 season. These new models are said to be the lightest 4-stroke battery-less EFI outboards in the industry. Which is great because having a higher power-to-weight ratio is huge for smaller horsepower motors. These 9.9hp motors feature exceptional torque and top end speed allowing you to get to that honey hole in no time. They also sport a battery-less Electronic Fuel Injection system that offers superior starting performance compared to the older cabureted technology. The best thing in my opinion about having an EFI outboard would have to be that there is no choke needed to start the motor. It may take a few pulls to get the fuel into the system the first time you start it, but after that you will see how esay they are to start and how smooth they run thoughout the RPM ranges.

The new 9.9hp EFI motors use less fuel than previous models from Tohatsu as well as their competetors. They recieved top honors for their fuel consumption not only at idle, but at wide open throttle as well. Its actually so much better than the other 9.9hp from other manufacturers that boaters can go up to 50% farther on less fuel. Spending less on gas is an investment paying off.
